Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles Hosts First-Ever Korean Culture Day in Kansas

The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA), in collaboration with the KU Center for East Asian Studies and the King Sejong Institute USA, successfully hosted the first-ever Korean Culture Day in Kansas at the University of Kansas Student Union. This landmark event marked a significant milestone in KCCLA’s mission to promote Korean culture across the United States.

Korean Culture Day drew an enthusiastic crowd eager to experience the richness of Korean traditions and modern cultural elements. About 450 Attendees participated in a wide range of activities, including traditional Korean games such as Tuho, Yutnori, and Jegichagi, which provided a hands-on experience of Korea’s cultural heritage. Visitors also had the opportunity to try on the hanbok, Korea’s traditional attire, and have their names beautifully written in Korean calligraphy.

In addition to these immersive experiences, guests enjoyed authentic K-snacks, witnessed dynamic taekwondo demonstrations, and engaged in interactive sessions led by skilled martial artists. The excitement reached new heights with the K-pop random play dance, where fans of Korean pop music joined together in an energetic and lively dance session.

The success of this event highlights the increasing interest in Korean culture and the significance of cultural exchange programs. KCCLA looks forward to hosting more events that bring communities together through the vibrancy of Korean traditions and contemporary culture.
