The Korean Modern Art Experience Program was held from Dec. 17-18 at the Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) in New Delhi, India. 

The event covered the evolution and significance of modern Korean art focused on painter Park Soo-keun (1914-65), featuring activities to offer a closer look at his work.

Kim Kang-hun, head of the KCC's exhibition team, gives an introduction to modern Korean art, its forms and famous artists.

Park was one of Korea's most famous modern artists known for his paintings of ordinary life, living during a turbulent period in his nation's history from Japanese colonial rule to World War II and the Korean War. He lived in poverty for much of his life, yet his legacy continues to inspire both artists and art enthusiasts in Korea and abroad.

A highlight of the event was an interactive workshop in which participants were divided into groups, each provided with a box of curated materials from the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul. The groups were asked to analyze the top 10 artworks by Park and share their thoughts on them.

Attendees share discussions and interpretations of Park Soo-keun's art.

Participants shared glowing feedback about the event, with one saying, "It was a great experience to learn about modern Korean art in depth and engaging in activities that I'd never tried before.”
