The Korean Embassy in Iran on Dec. 12 hosted a gimbap (seaweed rice roll) workshop for Korean-language students at Tehran University.

Each table had a selection of ingredients to make the food: strips of carrots and radish, seasoned spinach, savory tuna mixed with mayonnaise, slices of sausage, chewy fish cake, imitation fish sticks, fluffy rice and seaweed.

In the first part of the workshop, a chef of Korean food explained the gimbap-making process with step-by-step instructions like laying out the rice and seaweed and properly arranging the filling and rolling.

The chef called gimbap his favorite Korean dish due to its beauty and versatility, adding that its flexibility allows people to customize it through fillings and flavor combinations.

Once every team made their gimbap, the chef sampled and judged each creation, giving positive feedback on each group's approach and creativity in their flavor combinations.

The workshop was an engaging opportunity for the Tehran University students to explore Korean cuisine.

Participant Fatemeh Rafatnia said "As a big fan of Korean food, I found this workshop to be an absolutely fun experience. It helps us feel much closer to Korea and fosters a deeper appreciation for its rich traditions."
