President Moon Jae-in and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a summit on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders Meeting on Nov. 17 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. President Moon praised the role of the Chinese leader in the recent development in the peace process on the Korean Peninsula. Both presidents agreed that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s reciprocal visit to Seoul would serve as a watershed in resolving the issues involving the Korean Peninsula.

President Moon Jae-in and Australian Prime Minister Scott John Morrison held a summit on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders Meeting on Nov. 17 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The two leaders discussed cooperation in various sectors, including business and the defense industry, as well as regional cooperation involving the Korean Peninsula and other global issues. Both leaders also exchanged views on Seoul’s New Southern Policy and Canberra’s Indo-Pacific strategy.

President Moon Jae-in and Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea Peter O’Neill held a summit on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders Meeting on Nov. 17 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. President Moon congratulated Papua New Guinea on the successful hosting of the APEC meetings. The two leaders discussed measures to boost bilateral relations and cooperation on issues involving the Korean Peninsula and the Northeast and Southeast Asian region.

President Moon Jae-in and Prime Minister of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith held a summit at Suntec Singapore Convention Center on Nov. 14 on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summits. President Moon told the Laotian leader that, “Laos is a core partner country of the New Southern Policy Korea has been pushing forward, and we hope to build a firm cooperative partnership.” “Korea hopes to contribute to infrastructure construction in Laos in the future as it has been doing in the Mekong River region,” said President Moon.

President Moon Jae-in and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed cooperation for the establishment of peace on the Korean Peninsula and ways to boost bilateral ties. In regard to Seoul-Moscow cooperation, the two leaders expressed the hope that bilateral relations would develop into a full-scale cooperative relationship that encompasses both the central and local governments. Both leaders agreed to work together in order to achieve the goal of reaching a bilateral trade volume amounting to US$30 billion and the volume of people-to-people exchange of 1 million people by 2020 when the two countries will mark the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship.

President Moon Jae-in and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Bruneian Darussalam held a summit at Suntec Singapore Convention Center on Nov. 14 on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summits.President Moon praised Brunei’s role as ASEAN’s dialogue coordinator with Korea. He asked for Brunei’s support for Seoul’s New Southern Policy which his administration has been carrying out in order to remarkably develop Korea-ASEAN relations.

 President Moon Jae-in and Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen held a summit at the Christiansborg Palace. They issued a joint press statement containing key items on the agenda, including cooperation in economic and trade relations, exchanges of human capital, regional and international issues. 

The two leaders agreed that Korea-Denmark relations have clearly developed since the adoption of a strategic partnership in 2011, and the Joint Action Plan in 2016. They emphasized that the 60th anniversary of Korea-Denmark friendship in 2019 will open up more doors for interactions.

President Moon Jae-in held a summit with Prime Minister of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha on Oct. 19 while attending the ASEM Summit in Brussels, Belgium. President Moon asked the Thai prime minister to support Korea's hope to host the Korea-ASEAN Special Summit next year along with the chair country Thailand.
